The KGB's efforts in this regard culminated in 1991 with Comrade Oliver Stone's self-described mythological ("to counter the myth of the Warren Report") "JFK," which film was ultimately based on an anti-Clay Shaw / anti-CIA article published in a Communist-owned Italian Newspaper three days after overly ambitious, scandal-plagued, and revengeful Jim Garrison had arrested Shaw on suspicion of having masterminded the homosexual "thrill kill" assassination, and which masterly piece of disinformation turned a lot of Americans against the evil, evil, evil, evil, evil U.S. Government.
